Victoria Angel Registry of Hope is a charitable organization that accepts donated samples from pregnant parents.
Victoria Angel’s public cord blood program has been inspected by Health Canada and is accredited by the AABB.
The cord blood processing lab, located at Toronto General Hospital, has been accredited by AABB and FACT and has passed the regulatory inspection by Health Canada. It has released 6 samples for medical use to SickKids Hospital in Toronto. Engraftment occurred in all cases; two engrafted in 17 days.
Samples that meet world-wide standards for public banking are processed, stored, and HLA typed. All non-conforming samples are directed toward research projects.
Victoria Angel’s samples will be listed on a central registry in Finland: Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide (BMDW) effective August 2013.
